Cheap flights from Provo Airport (PVU): airlines, destinations, and deals
Provo Municipal Airport (PVU) is the only commercial airport in Utah County. It's a Breeze Airways and Allegiant hub, with seasonal service from American Airlines. Fares from PVU are often significantly cheaper than the same route from SLC, but the catch is destination coverage: PVU serves about 20 destinations, mostly beach, leisure, and major-hub cities. For Utah County travelers heading to a PVU-served city, flying from Provo almost always beats the SLC drive, parking, and security wait.

Airlines serving PVU
Three carriers run the bulk of PVU's commercial schedule:
- Breeze Airways: the largest PVU operator, with year-round service to Phoenix-Mesa, Vegas, Tampa, Orlando, and seasonal routes to San Bernardino, Sarasota, and Charleston.
- Allegiant Air: focused on leisure routes including Phoenix-Mesa, Vegas, and Los Angeles. Two- or three-flights-per-week schedules.
- American Airlines: seasonal service to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), the main connecting hub for AA's long-haul network.
PVU does not have Delta, United, Southwest, or Spirit service. If you need any of those airlines, SLC remains the only option from northern Utah.
Most popular PVU destinations
- Phoenix-Mesa (AZA): multiple weekly flights on Breeze and Allegiant. Cheapest PVU route year-round.
- Las Vegas (LAS): multiple weekly flights on Breeze and Allegiant.
- Los Angeles (LAX): Allegiant, seasonal.
- Tampa (TPA): Breeze, year-round.
- Orlando (MCO): Breeze, year-round.
- Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW): American, seasonal. The only connecting-hub option from PVU.
- San Bernardino (SBD): Breeze, seasonal alternative to LAX.
PVU vs SLC: when does it make sense?
If your destination is served by PVU, flying out of Provo is almost always the better choice for Utah County travelers. Three reasons:
- Drive time. PVU is 10 minutes from central Provo and under 25 minutes from most of Utah County. SLC is a 50–75 minute drive each way without traffic, longer at rush hour.
- Parking. PVU has $7-per-day economy parking and no shuttle. SLC's economy lot is $12 per day plus shuttle time. Over a week-long trip, that's $35–$50 in savings.
- Security. PVU's TSA line is rarely more than 10 minutes; SLC's main checkpoint regularly hits 30–45 minutes at peak times.
If your destination isn't served by PVU (anywhere in Hawaii, most of Europe, most of Mexico beyond Mesa-connecting Allegiant routes, all of Asia), you'll either fly SLC or connect through another hub on a PVU itinerary. In most cases the SLC nonstop wins on total travel time even after the drive.
Deal Wings tracks both SLC and PVU. You can choose to receive deals from one or both airports during onboarding, and change it any time from your settings.
What to expect on price
Breeze and Allegiant are both ultra-low-cost carriers, which means base fares are cheap but everything else costs extra: seat selection ($10–$40), carry-on bags ($30–$50), checked bags ($30–$60), and printing your boarding pass at the counter ($5–$25). Factor those into the total trip cost before comparing PVU to SLC.
Typical PVU round-trip fares: Phoenix-Mesa $89–$199, Vegas $69–$179, LAX $99–$249, Tampa/Orlando $159–$299. Mistake fares and flash sales drop these into the $39–$99 range on Phoenix-Mesa and Vegas a few times per month.
Frequently asked questions
Does Delta fly out of Provo Airport?
No. Delta only operates from Salt Lake City International (SLC). Provo Municipal Airport (PVU) is served by Breeze Airways, Allegiant Air, and seasonal American Airlines service.
Is it cheaper to fly out of Provo (PVU) than Salt Lake City (SLC)?
On routes both airports serve, PVU is usually cheaper on base fare: Breeze and Allegiant are ultra-low-cost carriers with much lower advertised prices than Delta or United. After ULCC bag and seat fees, total trip cost is often similar to SLC, but PVU saves significantly on parking and drive time for Utah County travelers.
How long is the drive from PVU to Salt Lake City International?
About 50 to 75 minutes without traffic, 90 minutes or more during rush hour. PVU is a 10-minute drive from central Provo and under 25 minutes from most of Utah County, which is the main reason Provo travelers prefer it when the destination is served.
Does Provo Airport have TSA precheck?
Yes. PVU's main checkpoint includes a TSA PreCheck lane, though it's not always open during low-traffic periods. The general security line at PVU is rarely more than 10 minutes regardless.
