About Deal Wings

We built a flight deal service for Utah, and only Utah.

Deal Wings is a flight deal alert service for travelers who live in Utah. We monitor every route out of Salt Lake City International (SLC) and Provo Municipal Airport (PVU) around the clock and email subscribers the moment a fare comes in 25% to 90% below its long-running price: flash sales, fare wars, and what we call unicorn fares(mistake fares so deep below normal they shouldn't exist).

Why Utah-only?

Nationwide flight-deal services like Going (formerly Scott's Cheap Flights), Thrifty Traveler, and Dollar Flight Club cover the entire United States. That sounds great until you live in Salt Lake City and realize most of their best alerts depart from JFK, LAX, or ORD. The closest regional alternative, Flights From Home, is a well-respected Utah business but the tier that actually includes mistake-fare alerts (FFH Premium+) is $129 a year, and their $49 entry tier is single-airport only.

Deal Wings only scans SLC and PVU, so every alert is one you can actually book without a positioning flight, and Pro is $39.99 a year. That's roughly a third of the comparable tier at every direct competitor in the category, and the free tier sends unlimited alerts to one chosen destination, forever.

How it works

Our backend scans every route out of SLC and PVU continuously across multiple public pricing sources, no paid APIs. Every observation is compared to a long-running per-route, per-cabin, per-airline price baseline. A fare only becomes a deal if it passes four independent quality gates: an absolute price floor (so we never surface impossible $72 round-trips to Hawaii), an absolute price ceiling (a $1,200 fare can never be a “deal” regardless of percentage off), a statistical anomaly check against the route's history, and a final read-path check that re-validates every deal before email delivery. The four tiers, unicorn fare (60%+ off), insane (40%+ off), great (25%+ off), good (15%+ off), are defined as standing thresholds, not editor opinions.

Founder, Deal Wings

Robbie Swanson is the founder of Deal Wings. A former machine-learning engineer turned product leader and serial entrepreneur, he built Deal Wings to apply the kind of anomaly-detection patterns he'd shipped in other domains to airline pricing, focused specifically on the Utah-only routes that nationwide deal services systematically under-cover. In head-to-head testing, the Deal Wings pipeline surfaces roughly 4× more usable SLC and PVU deals per month than Going, Thrifty Traveler, or Dollar Flight Club. Robbie lives in Utah.

Route + Pricing Analyst, Deal Wings

Marcus Chen covers airline route economics and the fare-class systems that drive everyday airfare. He spent the early part of his career in airline revenue management before moving into independent aviation analysis. At Deal Wings he writes the technical explainers: how airlines actually price tickets, which hub routes produce the best fares, and why mistake fares happen.

What we don't do

  • We are not a travel agency, ticket reseller, or booking platform. We surface deals; you book directly with the airline or your preferred travel site.
  • We don't use paid flight APIs or proprietary data feeds. Every fare we surface is from public, observable sources.
  • We don't cover non-Utah origins. If you live in Las Vegas or Denver, a nationwide service will serve you better.
  • We don't send SMS or push notifications today. Alerts are email-only.
